Calling from the
US to Europe, from Europe to the US or
other countries can be a bit
confusing as it's probably something you
may not be familiar with and
don't often do. International
calling usually involves including the
International Dialing Prefix plus the
Country Code and then the number.
We have found instructions on other
websites that try to explain the dialing
processing can still
be very confusing. This is our
attempt to clarify how to make
international calls.
Once you read through our
dialing examples, we recommend you do a
few things:
- Familiarize
yourself with with
Mobile Phones for international
use.
- Although you
should be able to use the '+' method
described below, make note of the International Dialing
Prefixes of the
countries you may be calling from.
(Add to your Trip Profile)
- Make sure
you know the Country Calling
Codes of countries you
may be calling. (Add to your Trip
Profile)
- Make note of
the local Emergency Numbers
for the countries you are visiting.
(See below)
- Upon your arrival,
call back to your home country to be
certain you know how to dial it
correctly.
It is important to note that
there are exceptions to the below
examples, but for the most part these
should work. Our advice is to
research the specific countries you need
to call and how to call from those
countries back to your home location to
be sure you understand what is required.

International
Dialing Example
This is a nice
site where you simply select the
countries you will be calling from and
to and it will display an example of how
to dial.
For example,
if
you select calling from the UK to the US
and select the state of Colorado
and city of Denver you get:
-
00 + 1 + (303 or
720) + Local Number
- (The
Denver areas has 2 area codes)
-
- Calling
from the US to London in the UK:
-
011 + 44 +
208 + Local Number
