International High Speed Data Plan

When traveling abroad, you will be accessing the Mobile Trip Profile to guide you. Although your phone plan may include international data, it will more than likely be at a reduced speed. If you carrier provides it, we highly recommend paying a little extra for a temporary international plan that will provide you with high-speed international data.

You will be using the Mobile Trip Profile, accessing other website information and using navigation features on your phone to guide you to your different locations. It can be very frustrating waiting for your phone to find a signal and waiting for maps to load and update as you navigate to your different destinations.

On a recent trip to Europe, we each had our mobile phones with T-Mobile service. We paid for the T-Mobile International Pass on one phone and not the other. The difference was like night and day! The phone having the International Pass was so much faster, about like it is locally.

As of Jan 2024, below are the plans and rates that T-Mobile offers. If you search their site, you will find instructions on how to add the service to your phone. You can also set the start date so you can do it ahead of time. I did this and it was very easy. Now that I have done it, I would not travel internationally without it

To give you an idea of what is involved to set this up, here are the simple to use instructions using the T-Mobile app:

1. Open the T-Mobile app and select Account
2. Tap Add-Ons next to the Primary Account Holder's line, scroll down, and select Manage Data & Add-Ons
3. Select the pass you want to add and tap Continue
4. Select Change Date to choose a start date for your pass. If you don't select a date, it will start immediately
5. Tap Agree & Submit
