Consider
bringing a jacket that can be worn underneath
your
Primary
Jacket. This jacket can be something
like a fleece or thin puff style
jacket. These jackets are
comfortable to wear and provide additional
warmth and can can also be worn alone as your
exterior jacket. Puff style jackets are
extremely lightweight and can be compressed for
storage while fleece style jackets are usually bulkier
and heavier.
We recommend bringing at
least one under jacket on your travels. A puff jacket may be filled
with down or synthetic material. Down may
be more compressible while synthetic material
may be stiffer and not as soft to wear.
Based on the brand, fill type and weight, the
price can vary
greatly. Puff jackets may be compressed
for easy storage in your backpack while fleece
jackets can more easily be rolled up and
used as a pillow or neck support on a
flight.
Things to consider

underneath your Primary Jacket
- Can be worn on it's
own
- Has zippered
external pockets
- Has large interior
pockets on each side of the main zipper
allowing you to store gloves or other items
- Can be compressed
and stored inside your backpack or strapped to
the exterior
Fleece and puff jackets
can usually be found at any clothing store
although you may find a greater variety at
outdoor adventure type stores and their price
range can be anywhere from $20 to over $100, so
shop around.
