Trip Planning - Day Trip Groups

Day Trip Groups define Day Trips that you will take during your trip. Simply enter a Group Title and select a Highlight Color to define a group. Once created, you can assign the groups to the locations where they apply.

A Day Trip is when you travel to one or more locations that are close enough to make a round-trip within a day, not requiring an overnight stay.

You can enter anything as a title, but to help distinguish your Day Trips, try using names such as 'Day Trip Versailles' or 'Versailles Day Trip'.

Once a location has been tagged as a Day Trip, the Day Trip title and highlight color will display on the Mobile Trip Profile, Trip Summary and other planning pages. Marking a location as a Day Trip will allow the Travel Planner to more accurately display travel times and route maps between your locations.

Basic Example
As a basic example, while in Paris, you plan to visit Versailles for the day. You will add a location for Versailles, then create a group for 'Day Trip to Versailles' and assign it to the location.

Extended Example
As a more complex case, you are staying in Interlaken Switzerland for a few days and want to take a Day Trip to the Jungfraujoch.

You have created locations for stops in Grindelwald, Kleine Scheidegg, Wengen, Lauterbrunnen and Jungfraujoch, all part of the same Day Trip. You have also planned different activities at each of the locations and added activity items. Create a group called 'Day Trip Jungfraujoch' and select a lighlight color. After you create the group, assign it to all the locations where it applies. Now, all your locations will be flagged, making them easy to distinguish them from other trip locations.

There is more to Day Trip Groups than having them flagged in the different displays. The groups also allow the Travel Planner to provide more accurate travel times and route maps using Google between your locations.

Managing Day Trip Groups
1. Enter the group Title
2. Select the group Highlight Color
3. Click the

icon with your mouse and drag to reorder the groups
4. Select 'Update Day Trips'

After you have created your groups, assign them to your Day Trip locations.

Assigning Groups to Locations
1. For each location where the Day Trip applies, select the Group Title from the dropdown list
2. Select the 'Assign Day Trips' button to save

Mobile Trip Profile
	The Mobile Trip Profile will display the group name and highlight color for each location having a group assigned.
