Mobile Trip Profile - Overview

Take your trip with you wherever you go.

Access all your trip information on your Smartphone or other Mobile Device.  The Mobile Trip Profile has been designed specifically for mobile device display.  This is not a Smartphone app, but rather Mobile Web Pages designed to display all your trip information in an app style.  Quickly and easily navigate through all your trip locations, activities and other information.  Depending on the information you have entered, clickable icons display allowing you to access photos, external websites and easily use your device's GPS Navigation functionality.

There is a lot of concern with apps and web pages collecting data on your phone and accessing personal information such as your contacts and other data.  You never know what an app is actually doing behind the scenes and what information is secretly being collected.

We want to assure you that our mobile pages do not secretly collect any of your personal data when utilizing the Mobile Trip Profile.  The mobile pages are like any other web page you would access on your computer, with the exception that they have been specifically formatted for mobile device display.  By utilizing this technology, you will always have the latest updates and never need to reinstall or download software updates.

All our website information, trip planning and trip building services are completely free.  However, the Mobile Trip Profile is a subscription service.  Please review the details of the service on our Mobile Subscriptions page.

To access all your trips as well as the Mobile Trip Profiles of other member's trips you may be tracking, follow the steps below using your Smartphone.  If you are traveling with others who will need to access the trip details, add the trip to their Trip Tracker.  You will need to know their eTripCafe login Id (Email) to add the trip to their tracker.  Once added, they can follow these same procedures to access the trip on their Smartphone.

1. Using the web browser on your Smartphone, navigate to the following site or scan the QR Code:

2. Login using your eTripCafe Id & Password

3. Select the trip photo to view the Mobile Trip Profile for each trip

Once your Free Trail or Mobile Subscription has been activated, click the mobile link to view the Mobile Trip Profile in your web browser, just as you would on your phone.  Read More

Logon Main Trip Display
Logon with your Email, Password and optional PIN (set on your 'My Account' page) When you are logged in, based on your trip profile settings, you will see a list of your trips as well as the Mobile trips of other members you are tracking.

Location Search Allows you to easily search for activities around your current location. Select an activity from the list or enter your own. Google Maps will display pinpointing the activity you have selected; relative to your current location. (Always Available)

Mobile Trip View
  (Current Date)		 Displays only the locations and associated activities for the current date
Trip Mood One of several mood icons set by the trip owner.  (This icon is display only and not clickable)
Trip Owner Either the Trip Owner will display indicating the logged in member is the trip owner or the Tracked Trip icon will display indicating the trip is being tracked and another member is the trip owner.  (This icon is display only and not clickable)

  Wireless Service, Downloading Your Trip and Offline Maps
  As you travel, you may be in locations where wireless service is limited and this will affect loading web pages or running apps that require an internet connection to access data on web servers.  To help mitigate the situation, from our Mobile Trip Profile - Expanded view, you can download your entire trip to your Smartphone prior to your departure so that you have access to all your information even if there is no internet connection.

If you are traveling to a location where you will be using your Smartphone's GPS Navigation, download Offline Maps of the area that your phone will use when there is limited or no mobile service.

Select the trip cover photo or to display the trip details.  Selecting will display only locations matching the current date.  Special icons indicate the booking status and allow you to expand/hide the locations and activities to view detailed information.  For added security, on your 'My Trips' page you may enable/disable access to the mobile view at any time.  You may also change the information that will display as well as set an optional password that must be entered to display the profile.

Trip Icon Definitions & Functionality
Mobile Trip Profile - Compressed This is the standard view.

In this view, simply scroll down to your current location or select the icon to only show locations for the current date.  Use the and icons to expand and compress location and activity details.
Mobile Trip Profile - Expanded This alternative view can also be used for download and offline viewing.

Although the expanded view can be used to easily navigate the entire trip, the purpose is for downloading the entire trip to your Smartphone providing access to all your trip details offline.  Select the Smartphone option to download and save the page so that you have an offline backup copy of your entire trip itinerary; including photos.  Having an offline copy will allow you to access all your trip information without mobile service or an internet connection.

Links to external websites will require an internet connection but it may be possible to navigate when selecting the icon if you have previously downloaded an Offline Map.  See our Tips page on GPS Navigation and our page on Downloading and using Offline Maps.
Return to trip list view Return to the main page listing all trips.  The eTripCafe logo may also be selected to return you to your trip list.
Device Date/Time Sync Calendar icon to sync the device date to the trip allowing the current day's locations and activities will be highlighted.  As we are running specially formatted web pages for mobile viewing and not an actual app, the page may need to be refreshed to reflect the date of your physical location.

Update Trip Comments If you are the trip owner, the icon will display for selection allowing you to update the trip mood icon and comment.  If you are tracking the trip of another member and they have enabled comment updates, the icon will display allowing you to post a comment to their trip.  If the trip is being tracked and the owner has not enabled comment updates, the icon will not display.
Trip Stats Click the icon to display the same trip stats that display on the website when a trip is selected or on the 'My Trips' page. (The icon only displays for the trip owner)
Activity Photo Timeline View the photo timeline for photos you have uploaded to your activities during your trip using your mobile device.
Offline Maps Click the icon to display all your trip locations where you have downloaded maps to be used offline when there is little or no mobile service
Public View Click the icon to display the trip details in the public trip view. (Not formatted for mobile devices)

Trip Locations Expanded Location
Moving down the list of locations for the selected trip with the highlighted current day's location. Selecting for Reykjavik Iceland expands to show the activities.  If an activity date matches the current date, it will also be highlighted.

Location status complete if all location activities requiring booking have been booked
Location status incomplete if one or more location activities still requiring booking

has been selected for the hotel 101 Guesthouse in Reykjavik to expand and show the booking details.  and has also been selected to show Notes and Photos. The map icon has been selected starting your devices GPS Map Navigation to the 101 Guesthouse in Reykjavik from your current location.
